Explanation of Treatment & Activities

Treatments are prescribed specific to the individual. The benefits of any particular therapy depend on the individual’s particular circumstances, state of health, age and constitution, root cause and strength of the symptoms, as well as season and climate of when the therapy is applied.

A single symptom may be treated differently for different individuals according to the factors involved. Treatments may include a selection of, but not all of the following:

In the Thai medical system, accurate diagnosis is crucial to ensure that the right treatments can be effectively administered. Therefore, at the beginning of the treatment a detailed consultation using Thai traditional medical examination techniques is carried out. Lifestyle and personal information will be taken to ascertain the state of the person’s particular circumstance and way of life.

The doctor will conduct pulse diagnosis by Ben-ja Vata Vithi (Five paths of Vayu or energy of the wind) method with great care. These methods are highly developed practical arts for offering insights into the physiology, energy levels, pathology, imbalances, the state of mind, as well as the strengths, weaknesses or resilience of the person. The information from the pulse diagnosis provides the doctor with indication as to the condition to be treated and will be considered alongside other methods of diagnosis.

A physical examination will also be performed to study the tongue, eyes, skin, internal body heat and general appearance. The doctor may also ask for a detailed description of the color, quantity and frequency of the urine and bowel movements. A health record is also taken to highlight any as other concerns. After the consultation and diagnosis, an individualized treatment plan is prescribed.

  • Herbal steam bath uses steam generated from medicated herbal decoctions to induce sweat. The treatment is used to relieve excess Life Forces (energy of the body) and toxins from the body. This helps to establish a state of balance and also promote general health and wellbeing.
  • Medicated herbal decoctions are specially formulated for each purpose: muscle and tendon relaxation, detoxification and mind soothing.

This mask is formulated by bitter and astringent herbs whose pharmacological properties are cooling, fever-reducing and anti-inflammatory. Therefore, the treatment is traditionally used to cool and calm the body and mind, helping to remove excess heat from muscles and skin, heal inflammation and relieve irritability and stress.

Reduces excess ‘heat’ in the internal organs and promotes their functions.

Releases the excess internal heat in the body and mind through the eye socket. When the heat is calmed and kept in balance, eye strain and blurry vision are relieved. It will also help to ease headaches and migraine, irritability and stress. Their toning action also stimulates blood circulation to the skin, revitalizes the complexion and improves skin texture.

The mask is teamed with the best herbs for detoxifying and rejuvenating the biggest organ- the skin (the earth element). It supports circulation into the deeper layers of the skin, stimulates the function of sweat glands and detoxifies the skin while rejuvenating and nourishing the tissues.

Warm water infused with medicinal herbs that relieve muscle soreness and inflammation, promote tendon elasticity, relax muscles and mind.

Poultices made with a mix of therapeutic heating herbs are used to complement a massage to increase its effectiveness. The heat and herbs soothe stiffness, tired and sore muscles while the relaxation of massage eases physical and emotional stress and tension. This is excellent for supporting an active lifestyle.

Clearing any blockage in Sen, the channels of life force circulation / promoting the blood supply and nutrients to the muscles and flushes out lactic acid and uric acid that build up in muscles and surrounding organs / improving circulation throughout the lymphatic system, assists the body in clearing sluggish tissues of waste, reduces stress and fatigue / deeply relaxing.

Thai traditional cupping is a type of therapy that involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. This suction moves stagnation to the skin surface and releases it out of the body. This treatment stimulates the flow of energy and blood, promotes oxygen supply and removes toxins, relieving pain and tension.

If the stagnation slows down or completely stops the transportation of fluid and water, resulting in accumulations that may eventually condense into water energy, wet cupping therapy will be practiced.

In wet cupping therapy, a small lancet is used to make light, tiny cuts on the skin. Next, a second suction is done to draw out a small quantity of blood. Harmful substances and toxins accumulated are removed from the body to promote healing.

This is a traditional detoxification. By laying down on the heated bamboo bed which is covered with banana leaves, turmeric and other warming herbs, the dry heat will kindle the fire element in the body which is depleted during the delivery, while medicinal benefits from the herbs absorbed through the skin. Excess fluid accumulations and toxins are cleansed, the circulation is improved and muscular tension and stiffness are eased. The body and mind will be light and relaxed.

Ease cold, coughs, nasal congestion, sinusitis and any other respiratory problems.

Burning herb is applied above the skin where hard or knotted spots of accumulated prana or wind energy appear underneath. The heat brings medicinal effects from the herb deep down to the accumulation of prana blockage in those areas. The wind energy is dispersed from where there is an excess and replenishing areas that are depleted. Muscular stiffness is relieved, fluid retention is released and bloating is eliminated.

The heat of water and herbs encourages the free flow of downward-moving prana. This prana is responsible for all downward- moving impulses of elimination, menstruation, parturition and sexual functions. The treatment provides relief from constipation, painful periods and impotence.
